“Kindness in words creates confidence. Kindness in thinking creates profoundness. Kindness in giving creates love.”
– Lao Tzu
Body Matters is Jill’s yoga business in Shropshire. Having been practicing yoga for the last 14 years and teaching it for 9 years, Jill is very experienced and respected in the world of yoga. She trained in Bali with the Yoga Alliance (YA) en route to New Zealand in 2005 where she lived and worked for six years. As well as yoga, Jill is also a qualified Pilates teacher.
Jill has experience in many different forms of yoga but likes to teach an eclectic style, drawing inspiration from many different sources. Her teaching places considerable emphasis on good anatomical alignment ensuring that students are safe in their practice. At the same time she emphasizes the use of breath in posture allowing her students to work in a meditative fashion connecting with subtle aspects of themselves. She teaches with humour and laughter and is committed to ensuring that her students work at a level that is appropriate for their individual needs, be they physical or subtle in nature.
Jill’s own studies have led her through many ‘faces’ of Yoga from the very physical Ashtanga and Iyengar type practice that is found in many classes in the UK, to the more Vedantic approach. Yoga is a life journey and she continues to study with teachers across the U.K. As a result both her personal practice and teaching style continue to evolve.Prior to teaching yoga Jill worked initially as a Sports Instructor and then with charities such as the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind, Guide Dogs and RNIB teaching/assessing and supporting people with a sight loss in a profession which spanned twenty years. Jill is now following her life path with zeal, passion and enthusiasm.
